September Ordinal Numbers Poem

Each month we will learn a poem that teaches ordinal numbers (i.e., first, second, third, fourth, and fifth). Here is the poem for September:

Five Little Apples
Five little apples hanging on a tree,
The first one said, “I’m yellow. Pick me!”
The second one said, “Pick red. It’s the best.”
The third one said, “Green is better than the rest.”
The fourth one said, “We all taste good.”
The fifth one said, “Because ripe apples should.”
So they all got picked and baked in a pie.
Apples taste good . . . oh me . . . oh my!
